Spooky subject, am I right? But don’t worry, I haven’t gone mad during the summer heat, and there is no paranormal activity around me.
Actually, I was on vacation and took some time to think about where I’m going with my agency and my solopreneur creator business, what I even want in life…
You know… the usual stuff.
But I also just enjoyed doing nothing for a while. After all, I had a vacation.
During my time off, I’ve been building a habit of reading.
Besides marketing/business/self-educational books, I haven’t picked up a fictional book for many years. Probably since school… and I wanted to give “reading” another shot.
So I took a deep dive into classics like The Great Gatsby (boring) and 1984 (exciting). And also a little bit of Kafka (incredibly lame).
After that semi-pleasurable reading experience, I fed ChatGPT my writings, marketing texts, and newsletters, and asked it what it recommends based on my style.
It spit out Michel Houellebecq. A postmodern, French writer who is apparently very famous for his scandalous books. Never heard of the guy before.
So I read his debut Extension du domaine de la lutte, or in English Whatever.
Turned out I loved it. The style, the language, the sarcasm, and the cynical worldview. A literate brother, so to speak.
I was deeply inspired. Very much so, that I decided to write down some fiction myself. Because no matter how hard I try to just consume and chill, I always end up creating.
I just have this uncontrollable urge to tell the world what I’m thinking.
(Probably the reason, why I’m even building this business, too.)
Currently, I have approximately five chapters of a dark psychological suspense novel. 8,000 words. About 40 book pages. Not too shabby, am I right?
It’s also a great hobby. Being alone with just your thoughts, and a way to tell the world “go fuck yourself” through a fictional story. Very enjoyable.
But that’s not the only thing I did in the last couple of weeks.
Lately, I’ve been haunted… by Ghost.org.
Hence, the subject of this newsletter.
